GHANA PRODUCTIVE SAFETY NET PROJECT II IMPLEMENTED IN KRACHI NCHUMURU DISTRICT

Ghana Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, under the Ghana Productive Safety Net Programme 2 dubbed Productive Inclusion has been executed in the Krachi Nchumuru District at the forecourt of the Assembly complex on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9th May, 2024 respectively 

 The intervention which seeks to reduce poverty and help provide better livelihood to beneficiaries, penetrated a population of four hundred and fourty-seven (447) residence drawn from Grubi Akaniem, Bejamese, Lonkortor, Abrewankor, Chinderi, Borae,  Dindor, and a host of communities from  the district.

The exercise, begun with registration process in September, 2023 where almost all LEAP  beneficiaries in the district were migrated onto the programme, trained on various agricultural modules with the aim of supporting them with start-up materials and equipment to venture in active production

Beneficiaries were asked to select any of the projects  including bee keeping,soap making, groundnut processing, gari processing, fish farming,piggery  production, vegetable production and poultry to be equipped and trained for the module.

The District Chief Executive of Krachi Nchumuru Hon. Kwesi Nkrumah Ogyile, advised the beneficiaries to practice what they learned and put the start-up equipment into proper use. He explained that this is one of the ways that government intends to better the live of the citizenry, particularly, people living with disabilities and those on the Livelihood empowerment programme in the district.

He hoped that more of such interventions will flood the district to give meaning to the lives of the underprivileged.


He also admonished the beneficiaries to be productive in their respective modules so that they will qualify for the next stage of the support.
He called on  individuals to make sure they avail themselves for subsequent registrations since he is working tirelessly to get more of such support into the district.

Hon. Nkrumah, commended officers of the Agric,  Social Welfare and community Development, NCCE, BAC and Planning Department for their hard work towards the exercise.

In a brief remarks by the representative of the Ghana Productive Safety Net  Programme II  Mr. Zigi Asiwome,  from Oti Region, he reiterated the fact that the project operation runs throughout Ghana on Zonal basis namely;  Koforidua zone, Tamale zone, Wa zone, Bolga zone and Kumasi zone
Mr. Zigi Asiwome, indicated that the amount disbursed to the beneficiaries vary depending on the type of business engagements and added that the subsequent disbursement will not get to all beneficiaries. 

There was an exhibition session where all equipment and farm materials were showcased and handed over to the beneficiaries.

Although the exercise was very challenging, there is always more room for improvement.
